Description of the Magic Spring Tour

Our 3-day Magic Spring tour starts and ends in Bahariya Oasis (a pick up/drop off service from/to anywhere in Egypt will be arranged if you wish).

The highlights of our Magic Spring tour are the Black Desert, the al-Ghurabi sand dune, the beautiful Agabat Valley, the bathtubs of the Magic Spring that lend this tour its name, and the splendid White Desert National Park.

Itinerary of the Magic Spring Tour

Day 1

If you are coming from Cairo, you will be leaving Egypt’s capital between 7:00 and 8:00 am and arrive in Bahariya Oasis at about noon. There we greet you with a tasty Egyptian lunch before we start our tour.

On our first day we visit a small Bedouin village where you have a chance to relax in the hot and cold springs of Bahariya Oasis. Next on our tour is the Black Desert with its dozens and dozens of small, black-topped hills of volcanic origin. We then leave the road to reach the al-Ghurabi sand dune, an extension of the Abu Muharrik dune system where we set up our camp for the night.

Day 2

After breakfast we visit the peaceful Agabat Valley where you might go for a short hike in the desert’s unforgiving sun (you might want to check out the raving reviews on TripAdvisor). We have lunch at the Magic Spring that lends this tour its name. The Magic Spring (Ain al-Serw as we call it in Arabic) is a palm-shaded spring with three small pools to cool off in the middle of the desert. Just before sunset we reach the last sight of this day: the famous White Desert National Park, a “Lonely Planet Top Choice” with even more raving reviews on TripAdvisor.

Day 3

The third day starts with a breakfast at about 8:00 am but you might want to get up a little earlier to enjoy a spectacular sunrise. After breakfast we have time to explore the surreal shapes of these wind-eroded chalk monoliths. We then head back to Bahariya Oasis where we arrive at about 1:00 pm just in time for a last traditional Egyptian lunch before the public bus leaves at 3:00 pm (or your taxi awaits you if you opted for our drop off service).
